UPDATE: New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has declared a state of emergency in Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Reservation due to the South Fork Fire and Salt Fire. The Governor’s office announced a press conference in Santa Fe scheduled for 4pm Tuesday to provide updates. #SouthForkFire Update: 500 structures impacted, still 13,921 acres and still 0% contained (map added with more specific landmarks). An estimated 500 structures have been impacted by this fire. Crews worked to stop the spread and providing structure protection in areas they could. The main concern is the fire extending E and NE. #SaltFire Update: Progression has slowed. Moving through mountainous terrain. Aircraft will be able to identify the spots closest to Ruidoso Downs and will seek to perform air attack today.
