Hamas launches attacks in Gaza as peace talks with Israel stall

A video published by Hamas claims to show continued fighting with Israel in Gaza. Antony Blinken has called on the militant group to accept a ceasefire agreement. The world’s eyes are on the continuing carnage in Gaza and the glimmer of hope that Israel and Hamas can reach an agreement securing the ­release of the Israeli hostages held captive there, along with a sufficient break in the fighting to ­allow in more aid. Yet trouble is brewing not far away. Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, will begin next Sunday at sundown. With it comes the potential for clashes between Israelis and Palestinians elsewhere. The ground zero of the conflict has always been the al-Aqsa Mosque on Temple Mount, a site in the heart of Jerusalem revered by both Jews and Muslims.
