Gilla landed two hit singles in Germany in 1975/76 with Willst du mit mir schlafen gehn? (Do You Want To Sleep With Me) #24 and Tu es! #10, the English version of the latter, Why Don’t You Do It, also hitting #15 in the Dutch charts. Farian followed it with Ich brenne (#44 Germany) and an English version, Help Help (#19 Holland), in the summer of 1976, but it was Boney M. that would steal the show with Daddy Cool and Sunny becoming major hits. Gilla’s second album was completed by December ’76. Johnny, a cover of Italian singer Mita Medici’s Uomo, was released but failed to chart. The title track was released a few months later but did not become a hit single either. Gilla’s Zieh mich aus-album did not sell much either. It contained two German cover versions of Boney M.’s No Woman No Cry and Sunny.
