Legacy of Giants. Part II
Today you will see the second part (and the full version) of the awesome “Legacy of Giants” concert.
In the last video we told you about all the musicians except one. Now it’s time to introduce our special guest - Alexander Pishchikov.
Alexander Pishchikov is a Russian jazz tenor and soprano saxophonist, one of the outstanding virtuosos of modal jazz, a follower of John Coltrane.
He became famous after his performance at the Tallinn Festival in 1967.
Alexander taught himself to play clarinet and saxophone. He played jazz in various ensembles in Riga from 1957, then in Moscow pop ensembles. In 1978 he assembled his own quintet for an exhibition at a Moscow festival. In 1997 he emigrated to Germany.
Alexander studied painting at a children’s art school. In adulthood his talent as an artist was reflected in several dozens of works painted in oil and acrylic colors.
