Very Rusted of antique irons Restoration . Jak restaurovat starožitnou žehličku 2. DIY
Today’s video will show you how to renovate an antique iron.
I found the iron thrown in the scrap metal. It was another challenge for me to renovate.
I brought her home and started the renovation the next day. The iron was very rusty.
Something from history :
The iron is a device for ironing, or smoothing the fabric using high temperature and pressure. Ironing works by releasing the bonds in the fibers of the fiber-forming polymers due to temperature. When the fibers are hot, they straighten under the pressure of the iron and retain their shape after cooling. Some substances such as cotton also need water.
Initially, the linen was pressed or rolled, a hot iron appeared in the 15th century. In the past, the iron looked like a glazed metal block with a handle. After heating, for example, on a kitchen stove plate, the thermal inertia of the metal block allowed for a few minutes to maintain sufficient temperature to be ironed. After getting cold, it was necessary to put the iron on the plate and to warm it up again. The shape of the iron resembles a foot with a triangular pointed tip on one side and a flat edge on the “heel“ side. This shape has also been adopted in other, more modern designs due to its comfortable ironing.
The refinement of the iron was a construction where a small charcoal fireplace was placed on the “foot“, where several hot coals could be inserted to maintain the iron’s high temperature without having to shut it down on the hot plate at any time. Another alternative was the irons where the alcohol was melting.
In the twentieth century, irons where an electrically heated spiral with a power of several hundred watts were inside and which had been fed from the power distribution grid had spread. The first electric irons were discovered in the 1890s. Later, a thermoregulator was added to the iron to maintain the desired temperature to a few degrees Celsius, and a humidifier (steam iron) appeared in the iron. (Wikipedia feed)
