A Pan’s Labyrinth music video using Natalie Merchant’s beautiful song “Ophelia“ (gee, I wonder why). It’s not just that I’m unimaginative and literal-minded, but also that this song has always resonated with me; I thought it would be fun to twin it with the film. I’ve never edited a music video before so I thought I’d give it a go! I really love Ivana Baquero’s performance in Pan’s Labyrinth and wanted to concentrate on the sense of presence she brings to the film (particularly in the ’earthly’ portions of the film rather than the supernatural ones), so there’s no pairing for this video and it doesn’t go through the film’s plot. Basically, it’s just a lot of shots of Ofelia lookin’ all sad and angsty. If you haven’t seen the film, you will be totally confused. But regardless of whether you have or haven’t seen the film, I hope you enjoy my video! I don’t own anything. Not a thing.
