Engaging fantasy somewhat in the vein of Twain’s “A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur’s Court“. American atomic scientist Peter Standish ( Power ) who visits co-worker Roger Forsyth’’s ( Rennie ) house while working in London and via a wish and a lightning strike is transported back to 1784 England. There in that time period, he is taken for his ancestor who is to marry Kate Petigrew ( Campbell ), but falls for her sister Helen ( Blyth ). Peter find’s the adjustment in language and customs difficult, and the people of the period view him as odd. When Peter’s modern laboratory is discovered with many modern inventions, they want to commit him to an asylum. A nice, whimsical romantic drama full of time-twisting events and dialogue. The end will surprise you.
