Interrogated After Cuba Trip, Young Activists Undeterred

At least six young U.S. activists were briefly detained and interrogated by DHS agents in the Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Newark airports after returning from a 300-person delegation for May Day in Cuba. On Sunday, these activists joined hundreds in Washington D.C. and across the U.S. to protest President Biden’s Cuba policy, including the island’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism. National labor leader Chris Smalls of the Amazon Labor Union said on the delegation that after coming back to the U.S. he would “continue to amplify ending the blockade [on Cuba].” Smalls was one of the speakers for Sunday’s march outside of the White House, which closed out a weekend full of related Cuba solidarity events in the nation’s capital. #cuba #unitedstates #solidarity #labor #mayday #washington #amazon #activism
