An Architect’s Private Home Designed Using Recycled Timber (House Tour)

Located in the leafy suburb of Remuera in central Auckland, this New Zealand home designed by and for Paul Clarke from Studio2 Architects is an architect’s private home designed using recycled timber which pays tribute to the original house on its site, while creating a new design personalised to the architect’s family. While the house presents an integrative face to the street, it contains some surprises beyond the front entrance. The footprint and some aspects of the interior floorplan of the previous house are reflected in the creation of this new family home. All spaces are open to its northerly aspect, with recycled timber sliding shutters in place of curtains to allow for full enjoyment of the mature trees and landscaping that surround the architect’s private home.
