Enfants des courants d’ air (1957) Edouard Luntz

The lives of children in a slum area at the gates of Paris. The aesthetics of the images, the simplicity of the music and the dialogues accentuate the emotion that emerges from this film awarded with the Prix Jean Vigo in 1960 “ This semi-documentary is a compassionate study of the children who live in the slums and shanty towns on the outskirts of Paris. Concentrating on the life of a young boy, it follows him during the course of a day, seeing the surroundings through his eyes. The film shows the poverty of the people and the primitive conditions under which they live, but also their warmth and willingness to share what they have. It ends when the only adult the boy knows is taken to hospital and he is left alone outside. “
