How to Paint a Full Moon over the Ocean / Oil Painting Tutorial

This painting tutorial shows how to paint a super full moon over the ocean in oils. I painted this nocturne on 48x30 inches canvas in one sitting, wet on wet, it took me about 6 hours to complete not counting coffee breaks. This is mostly an imaginary scene partly based on my older seascape. Here I offer an insight into my technique and share painting tips I taught myself over the years. Hope you will find it useful or at least entertaining. I used only four oil colors to create this night ocean painting: titanium white, phthalo blue, indigo and cadmium yellow light. I used mineral spirits l as a thinner, but any oil will do as well.
