Streets of Rage (Genesis) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Sega’s 1991 beat ’em up game for the Sega Genesis, Streets of Rage. Played through as Axel on the normal difficulty level. The good ending is shown. Of all of the series that were spawned in the wake of Capcom’s success with Final Fight, Sega’s Streets of Rage (or Bare Knuckle, as it was known in Japan) series was quite arguably the best, and most popular. The first SoR impressed with the relatively large number of moves that could be pulled off (it was extremely similar to the equally easy but versatile controls pioneered in Final Fight) and it’s genius implementation of a back-hit, two-player co-op play, and though the graphics were a bit squat looking, the game put tons of them on-screen at once. For 1991, this was great stuff. However, the real star here is Yuzo Koshiro’s soundtrack. I don’t think I need to tell anyone what an amazing musician he is, but the SoR games really were showcases for the Genesis sound hardware, on both the artist
