Prosecutors hail Maxwell guilty verdict, defence vow to appeal

Prosecutors speaking outside a Manhattan court have welcomed the guilty verdict against Jeffrey Epstein’s former lover Ghislaine Maxwell – while the defence has confirmed it will appeal the decision. It comes as Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty of luring young girls to be sexually abused by Epstein – who killed himself in 2019 in a Manhattan jail cell while awaiting trial on sex abuse charges of his own. A New York jury this morning found the British socialite guilty on 5 counts for recruiting and grooming teenagers.
