I believe The GREATEST Neoclassical Metal Band is Symphony X. But what about Yngwie Malmsteen you might he’s had enormous influence on the genre but he’s not a band as much as a solo artist. Symphony X, led by lord Michael Romeo has been churning out epic neoclassical metal inspired by bach, mozart and other composers since the mid 90’s. The quality of the songwriting is on another level. We’ll examine Michael Romeo’s use of the Andalusian Cadence, The Neapolitan chord and other classical concepts in a live performance of “Set The World On Fire.“ It’s a track from the album Paradise Lost based on John Milton’s epic poem of the same name. The lyrics are about Satan leading a revolt against god and being kicked out of heaven. Get on Symphony X’s level by taking my music theory course below. It’s time to set your chops on fire muhahaha!
