3D simulation of Betelgeuse’s boiling surface mimicking rotation

This animation shows a simulation of how convection dominates the surface of a Betelgeuse-like star. It then shows how this would look like in actual ALMA observations, demonstrating that the boiling surface could be mistaken as a signature for rotation.
