Trump decries whistleblower complaint at Scalia swearing-in

President Donald Trump on Monday called a phone conversation he had with Ukraine’s president “perfect” and said the whistleblower who filed a complaint about the call “reported a totally different statement” and made it “sound terrible.“ Trump spoke during the swearing-in of Eugene Scalia, the son of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, as the secretary of labor. Following the swearing-in in the Oval Office, Trump spoke to reporters in the midst of increasing pressure over a whistleblower complaint. The complaint centers on a July call between Trump and the president of Ukraine, where Trump pushed for dirt to be dug up on 2020 presidential contender Joe Biden and his family. The complaint, in part, helped launch the official start of an impeachment inquiry by the House against Trump.
