Mike Mangini HiHat Bell Use

Here’s a demonstration of how some of the bells on these hihats on this kit are used Dream Theater’s upcoming “A View from the Top of the World“ release. I’ve used parts of the hihats on recordings since the early 90’s. However, the way they sound in a room is different. Especially to me. Here, you can hear how dynamic the HiHat bells can be. The beat is a take-off on a yet unreleased song. This video doesn’t include the vast array of Step HiHat uses as I have weaved into every album I’m on since the 90’s.
