China deployed in August 2024 the very first batch of satellites of the Qianfan megaconstellation, also known as “G60 Starlink“. Qianfan is the first real Starlink-like competitor that is materializing in China, with ambitious goals of deploying 1296 satellites by 2027 and 15,000 by 2030. Such goals come with significant requirements in terms of launch vehicles, launch facilities, satellite manufacturing, and funding, which we discuss in depth in this video.
