Darts were an English 9-piece doo-wop revival outfit, achieving mainstream chart success with the self-penned ’It’s Raining’, a medley of The Rays’ ’Daddy Cool’ and Little Richard’s ’The Girl Can’t Help It’ (presumably part of the Stars on 45 ’medley craze’), and a cover of Gene Chandler’s ’Duke of Earl’ (the former two you can hear on this album), and they released this album in 1978 (many of the songs had been recorded previously). After failing to achieve chart success in the early 1980s, they were kicked out of the Magnet label. They soon started their own label, ’Choice Cuts’, however they failed to achieve any chart records on that label (possibly due to distribution problems, and the English interest in synth-pop by that time), and the band soon split up.
This is a full copy of their 3rd album, ’The Amazing Darts’. I feel that this is fair use as the band makes money out of the video, the audio is not CD quality (MP3 320 CBR 48000Hz), and it raises awareness of the music to a larger audience, who may then be inclined to buy the CD. If anyone has any objections to this being here, just send a message to me and I will remove it as soon as possible. Copied (originally in 192000@16) from the original vinyl LP (33.3 recurring RPM) (this video includes Side 1 and Side 2, with some blank space edited out), using a Boots Audio 1600 (yes, remember them...), and the hiss/popping/crackling/faint classical music that gets into the record player somehow in the background (and is noticeable when amplified in a blank space, I assume it’s picking up Radio 3/Classic FM due to EMI issues), edited out using the Noise Removal (now Noise Reduction) function of Audacity. This album contains most of their hits (excluding the self-penned ’Get It (while you can)’, a cover of ’Let’s Hang On’ by Frankie Valli and the 4 seasons, and a cover of ’Duke of Earl’ by Gene Chandler). This album reached #8 in the UK BRMB album charts.
If you want to buy the CD, here it is, at only £ (foreign buyers may pay different prices):
