While every other group can celebrate its unique identity, the British, particularly the English, are expected to redefine their national identity around vague, liberal themes. Drawing on insights from Francis Fukuyama’s book ““Identity,““ I highlight the dangers of a national identity based solely on diversity, which undermines a sense of self and pride. The new elite in Britain use terms like ““Little England““ derogatorily, dismissing those who take pride in their local communities and traditions. This asymmetrical multiculturalism not only erodes Britishness but also allows radical ideologies to thrive.
