Secret to Writing Adult Style Chinese 漢字 Japanese Kanji | Alt Stroke Order and Shapes

If you’ve ever learnt Chinese characters / Japanese Kanji, you would have been told from Day 1 that correct stroke order is imperative - if you write with the wrong stroke order, the character will look out of balance and sometimes not even be recognisable by native speakers. Here’s a secret - the stroke order you learnt is the ’BEGINNER’ 楷書 Kǎishū stroke order that all kids learn. If you want to ’mature’ your handwriting though, no matter how fast you speed up your writing, if you use that same stroke order, your writing may still look like kids’ handwriting, foreigner handwriting or both. In this clip I’ll show you some of the secrets to writing in a more natural semi-cursive 行書 script which can form your standard 硬幣 ’yìng bǐ’ writing style (normal pen style). There are actually some alternate ’standard’ stroke orders and shapes which are not often taught to foreigners, but will give you a much more native handwriting flavour.
