China announces launch and crew members of Shenzhou-16 mission to Tiangong Space Station
Shenzhou-16 manned spaceship will be launched on Tuesday from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in NW China, sending three taikonauts to Tiangong space station for a five-month mission, said China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).
Deputy director of the CMSA Lin Xiqiang briefed the media on the major tasks of the Shenzhou-16 mission to media. The Shenzhou-16 taikonauts are Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao.
Jing Haipeng will become the first Chinese taikonaut to carry out four space missions while Gui Haichao will become the first Chinese civilian in space.
China previously launched cargo craft Tianzhou-6 on May 10 to deliver supplies for the space station.
It is also announced at the press conference that China aims to complete its first crewed lunar landing by 2030.
