Legendary jazz icon Ella Fitzgerald appeared at The Embers Nightclub in Toorak Road, South Yarra, Melbourne on 4 December 1960 in a performance that was filmed for Channel 9’s “BP Super Show“ and broadcast on January 1961. Backed by her regular group at the time, the Lou Levy Quartet (Lou Levy (p); Wilf Middlebrooks (b); Herb Ellis (g); and Gus Johnson (d)), Lady Ella put in a typically masterful performance of jazz, blues & show this brilliant rendition of her then current hit “Mack The Knife“
