Voted track of the year by listeners of Gilles Peterson’s 2003 Worldwide Show on Radio 1, Wesley Music became an instant anthem on its release, finding favour at festivals and on dancefloors everywhere, from London, New York and beyond, but the track - along with the album ‘Every Preston Guild’- was never released digitally. The track and follow-up single ‘The Mast’ were underground hits, being licensed around the world for multiple compilations, including Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide series (Universal Music), Village Records (Japan) and Dave Lee - In the House (Defected). The band also went on to remix for Plantlife and Verve Records for the very popular ‘Verve Remixed’ series. Their live show toured the UK, playing spots like Band on the Wall (Manchester), Somerset House, Cargo & The Jazz Cafe (London) and sharing the stage with the likes of Bonobo, Bebel Gilberto & Zero 7. Yet despite all this activity, their album has remained unavailable on any streaming service until now! ¬ To mark Wesley Music’s 20th anniversary, on Friday 4th August 2023 the full 10 track album is being re-released across Spotify, Apple Music and all other streaming platforms, along with a digital download, CD and 2LP on Bandcamp. The music combines jazz sensibilities with uplifting driving beats, heavy percussion, soaring vocals, dark brass and touches of deep flamenco brought together with classic vintage production. REMIX RSL On Friday 14th July (ahead of the full album release), the band will make the single “The Mast” available to stream and download. The single will also be released exclusively on Bandcamp as a remix package, with all its component parts provided as individual tracks.
