The Dying God and the Trickster

In our continuing study of mythology, specifically the Supreme Being archetype, we look at our last two “masks of God“ -- the dying god and the trickster. The dying god is found all over the world -- from Jesus to Osiris to Corn Mother -- and their death always generates new life. Likewise, everywhere you look in world mythology there are trickster gods -- dangerous, deceitful clowns (think Loki) who wreck everything just for fun. What’s behind these masks of God?
