Sirens sound after Tel Aviv targeted in rocket attack

Tel Aviv was subjected to the sounds of sirens for the first time in months after Hamas launched a series of rockets from Gaza. The rocket attack, claimed by the Hamas military wing, marks the first long-range strike from Gaza since January. Although no casualties or damage were reported, the Israeli military confirmed that eight projectiles were launched from Rafah in southern Gaza, with ‘a number’ intercepted. Additionally, Palestinian Islamic Jihad also fired rockets at nearby Israeli communities, continuing the sporadic rocket and mortar fire that has become typical along the Gaza border. The attack comes as Israel continues its controversial ground offensive in Rafah, the last Hamas stronghold in Gaza, but also the last refuge for thousands fleeing the fighting.
