Boeing 737 loses wheel during takeoff

A Boeing 737 headed for Cape Town was forced to make an emergency landing after one of its wheels fell off during takeoff. Video footage shows smoke billowing from the now-uncovered rear wheel hub as the FlySafair plane touches down on its return to Johannesburg. In another video, a loud bang can be heard seconds after the plane touches down. The undercarriage and right wing had partially collapsed as a result, images from the scene show. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident, which is the latest in a long line of Boeing manufacturing failures. The ground crew spotted the missing wheel immediately after takeoff, and alerted the pilot who made the decision to turn around. Boeing, who are currently facing a series of Senate hearings over their safety and manufacturing quality, declined to comment on the incident.
