Les Fontaines de Versailles by Michel-Richard Delalande
Music of the baroque so frequently evokes dance in the mind’s eye that we felt especially fortunate at the January 5 Midtown Concert at St Bart’s to have the dancing brought to life by choreographer and dancer Carlos Fittante and his dance partner Robin Gilbert in their program “Music and Dance from the Courts and Villages of Europe and the New World.” Music for Michel-Richard Delalande’s “Les Fontaines de Versailles,” seen here, was provided by Adam Cockerham, baroque guitar; Maureen Murchie, baroque violin; and Lisa Terry, viola da gamba. The two selections are Air de Flore and Chaconne.
