Jascha Heifetz (Vilnius, Lithuania, February 2, 1901 - December 10, 1987) was one of the greatest violin virtuosos in history, famous for his interpretations of famous melodies by Paganini, Bach and Saint-Saens. Considered by many the finest violinist of the 20th century.
Eighty-three of his eighty-six, Jascha Heifetz played the violin, and sixty of his eighty-six, he did it in front of huge audiences worldwide. Since its first orchestrated concert in St. Petersburg on April 30, 1911, he exposed his art to the world through more than two million miles of travel around the globe, numerous appearances on radio and interests in filmmaking.
