Hiking Signs (1940)

Hiking signs. Location unknown. Item shows the ’secret signs’ that hikers, “like tramps“, leave to inform others. Pair of hikers are seen making & encountering different signs, all made out of bent twigs. Various shots of a young couple hiking down a country lane and through the countryside. They stop at a twig twisted into a circle which means it is easier to branch off at this point. M/S as they walk through a gate after having had a meal, they tie and cut twigs to give others a sign that the meal wasn’t nice. M/S as they see another twig twisted into a triangle, they turn back as this means the path ends abruptly. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
