Ronald Frankau (1933)

Titles read: “And now for Ronald Frankau - of . Variety and Gramophone fame.“ London (probably Pathe Studio). M/S of a pianist playing a little introduction music, then looking around to the right for Ronald Frankau. Frankau appears from the left and joins in, calling for ’Mr Frankau’. Frankau asks if we have ever seen an ostrich egg, then takes off his hat to reveal his bald head and says “that’s why I always wear a hat - I hate going about naked“. He says he is going to sing a song from the reign of the French Queen Apple Charlotte. He tells a long, rambling story about this Queen watching a magician who did a trick with the Queen’s rings. He sits on a chair and sings a sort of fairy tale song about a princess who gets tired of being good and runs away. She is captured by an ogre and rescued by a prince. At the end of the song Ronald puts a laurel wreath on his head, takes out his handkerchief, says “There will now be some dancing on the green squaws [?]“ and skips off, fluttering his
