School Flat (1953)

No titles. Steyning, Sussex. Various shots show girls of the County Secondary School at Steyning at work in a modern home economics room. We see them mixing and icing cakes and biscuits, taking cakes out of ovens, and doing general kitchen duties. One girl uses an aga cooker. We then see two girls going into a modern flat where they sweep and dust the furniture and make beds. It’s a kind of mini home where they can practice being good wives (dullsville!). They do manage to stop for a cup of coffee and a biscuit with two other girls and are joined by their headmaster, Mr Edwin Crawford. He sits down and is given a cup of coffee. Cataloguer’s note: these poor girls! I hope they went on to be astronauts and bareback riders. Notes and cutting on file. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
