Mantovani (1934)

No titles. Brief sequence (not complete) of comedian Ronald Frankau (in a normal suit) shaking a cocktail as he introduces Mantovani. He says “Let’s pour him out“, and pours the cocktail into a glass. C/U of the glass as, through a camera trick, Mantovani and his Tipica Orchestra come zooming out of it. Various shots of the orchestra, conducted by Mantovani, playing ’Reginella’, a stirring, gypsy-like tune. At the end of the Mantovani segment, Ronald Frankau reappears briefly and starts to tell a joke, but film cuts out abruptly (phew!). This act possibly appeared in a Pathetone compilation at some point, hence the remains of the introduction and ’afterword’ from Frankau. Duplicate item (without Ronald Frankau top and tail) exists in Turns Can 19 and ’Pathetone Parade of 1940’ - see separate records for details. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
