Track 7 from his self-titled debut album released in 1970 copyright Shelter Records. It was recorded at Olympic Studios in London, Sunset Sound Studios, Gold Star Studios and Wally Heider Studios in L.A. and Ardent Studios in Memphis. Leon Russell was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and began his sixty-year musical career performing in local clubs at the age of fourteen using a fake I.D. His first band the Starlighters, which also included guitarist J.J. Cale, helped create the “Tulsa Sound” later popularized by Eric Clapton on his album “Backless.” At sixteen he moved to L.A. to become a session musician and songwriter. He played piano and guitar on successful recordings by numerous artists from The Beach Boys to Frank Sinatra. During this time he also co-wrote a couple of hits for Gary Lewis & the Playboys. He founded Shelter Records with Denny Cordell in 1969. This album received above average reviews but only reached No. 60 on the Billboard chart. It featured some of the most popular and respected musicians
