DIR EN GREY - AMBER [eng sub] LIVE HD

From their Tour16-17 From Depression To ________ [Mode Of Vulgar] live, requested by Spooka. Really enjoyed translating this. Something I noticed is that we don’t often get this dark green color theme they chose for this one in DEG performances. It suits the song really well, in my opinion. Translation by me. Annotations: “The late autumn wind“ - The word used here is 小春日和 (koharubiyori), which is often translated as “Indian Summer“. It does refer to the mild weather experienced in late autumn, around November. “I still want to be by your side, but...“ - The second time Kyo sings this, it is supposed to be a repetition of “I want to be with you more, but...“, but he changed it up and repeated this line instead. “Enduring is what I’ve done more than enough of“ - The expression 死ぬほど (shinu hodo) is used describe an extreme extent of something. While a literal translation would be along the lines of “so much I could die“, it is very commonly used in everyday conversation, for example to say things like “it’s crazy cold“, “I’ve been waiting forever“, “it hurts so badly“, “I love you to death“... You get the gist of it. “I have a new amber colored dream in my “heart““ - He sings “[...] in here“, but the lyrics read “heart“ (it’s the same in the studio version, the lyrics say “heart“ (usually read kokoro) but the reading is changed to “here“ (koko)). I didn’t want that to get completely lost, so I kept the translation the same as the lyrics. “Until our voices wither, let us love“ - This is unique to this performance. The lyrics say “let us sing“, but I hear Kyo sing 愛そう (愛す is a common alternative to the regular 愛する). Actually, if it had been “sing“ instead of “love“ in this version, I would have chosen to translate these two last lines as singular. (Volitional doesn’t in all cases have to mean “let us“) “Until my voice withers, the last... - Until my voice withers, I shall sing“ --------------- I do not own Dir En Grey or any of their music or performances. I translate for fun and wanted to share this translation. Thank you for watching!
