There are certain “markers“ to look out for, time words that will help you understand that you need to use Pretérito Perfecto, e.g.: - hoy/esta mañana/esta tarde/esta noche/esta semana, etc.; - últimamente/recientemente/hace un rato/hace cinco minutos, etc.; - ya, todavía/aún no; - nunca/alguna vez/siempre/una vez/muchas veces, etc.; In order to use a verb in this tense, you need to take the verb ’’haber’’ (he, has, ha, hemos, habéis, han) in the correct form and add the past participle of the action verb (-ado, -ido), e.g. “He estudiado español esta semana“.
