The Mahican People.., their culture, background & affiliations -------------------------------------------------- The Mahicans (/məˈhiːkən or, Mohican /moʊˈhiːkən) are an Eastern Algonquian Native American tribe that are Algonquian-speaking. As part of the Algonquian family of tribes (*nations), they are related to the Lenape, who occupied territory to the south, as far as the Atlantic coast. The Mahican People occupied the upper Hudson River Valley (around the confluence of the Mohawk River, where present-day Albany, New York, developed) and into western New England centered, on present-day Pittsfield, Massachusetts and lower Vermont. ------------------- I claim no ownership of any of the clips, video, music and words expressed in this employ my borrowing of them with much respect and thanks.
