The so called “Blitzkrieg“ ( meaning “Lightning War“ in English ) was the nickname given by the Allies for the strategy used by the Germans in the Second World War. It proves that the strategy was very effective and fast. At the beginning of the war “Blitzkrieg“ helped Germany takes large amounts of territories that it couldn’t in the First World War because of the Trench Warfare tactics used in the First World War. “Blitzkrieg“ helped Germany to control more than half of Mainland Europe and it costed millions of lives for Soldiers and Civilians alike.
