MNT vs. Mexico: Highlights - July 5, 1991

CONCACAF held the first edition of the Gold Cup in 1991. The U.S. and Mexico were drawn into separate groups, but met in the semifinals as Mexico finished runners-up in Group A. Going into the match, the United States had managed just two wins and four draws in 28 all time matches against Mexico and hadn’t beat Mexico in 11 years. New head coach Bora Milutinović led the U.S. to one of its finest victories, in the process breaking new ground on what would become the greatest rivalry in the region. More info
