These were introduced in 1996 as an ultra high-end and flashy Les Paul. For most people, these turn out too gaudy and aren’t that well-liked by players for price and flashiness concerns. However, there have been many versions of the Ultima since its introduction and this 2014 is a great example of an extra special “Les Paul Custom Ultima“ that fixes the biggest issue I have with Ultimas... they are only fancy on the front and “plain“ on the back.
