Steampunk Ryan M-VP. Pedals + VR controllers MSFS 2020 take off + round fflight + landing.
On the holy evening of May 21st, 1927 - Swedish aviator Charles Lindbergh took off from New York to first time in History cross Atlantic in less than two days(33½hours) and Land in France.
to counter disbalance that 2 tons(450Gallons) of fuel adds to flight stability, aviator decided to place fuel tank just behind the motor covering up whole view of standard civil Ryan M-1.
Looking on the pictures from XXI century perspective - icrossing Atlantic Ocean is nothing special.
But as soon as you turn off your phone (that have GPS), turn of your flash light (that have 15minutes battery life though), dig out your grand grand papa’s paper maps and try to fly by them, at least across channel - you’ll get it.
Lets see what difficulties I’ve found:
you have no technical way to get to 30 000 feet, so you can see only certain distance over land/sea on sides of the plane.
You need to hold your plane in hands 24/7: not watching outside of the aircraft - gives you feeling that nose lifts up, while plane in fact flies straight, but you naturally push stick away.
On night when you turn on Lightbulb - outside becomes just black. If you start doing barrel when light is on - you ain’t going to know that.
All that gives me a huge dose of respect to Lindbergh for his agility and ability to navigate his aircraft through 33½ hours over Atlantic up to France.
I will assume:
Take off was Easy
Landing was on Easier side
Navigation was UNREAL
Number one(Urination) was Easy
Number 2 I believe was on Harder side
Comfort was irrelevant
Technically she(Ryan M-VP, Spirit of Saint Luois) is marvel.
I hope more people will understand that flying with joysticks is less immersive for developers and engineers be motivated to improve VR flying without.
Using virtual but native control stick lets you feel aircrafts soul, not only reaction to your commands.
