Arctic London (1931)

“The only place suitable for snow“, said a Policeman, “is a Christmas Card - not London, with its miles of drab rooftops.“ Various shots of snow falling on London buildings. “Admittedly Trafalgar Square is brightened by a white mantle.“ L/Ss of Trafalgar Square in the snow. Nice shot of young boys throwing snowballs in Trafalgar Square, the lion is covered with snow. Another view of the boys, there is quite a lot of them (20 - 30). “But what about the poor traffic struggling along in the teeth of an arctic blizzard?“ M/S of traffic crawling along. Pedestrians emerge from a subway. M/S of men walking along pulling a horse and cart - everyone is covered with snow. Those being filmed look at the camera (and don’t look very happy!) M/S of a policeman (his helmet covered with snow) talking to the driver of a car. “Yes, ask the nearest London Bobby what he thinks about snow time in the City, and if your ears don’t burn they must be asbestos!“ L/S of policeman directing traffic. C/U of a policeman
