On The Fringe Of The Pole No. 3 (1934)

Soundtrack currently missing. Titles read: ’On The Fringe Of The Pole No. 3. In the staunch little “Morrissey“ we journey with bluff old Capt. Bob Bartlett to the far North.’ Exact location of events unknown - somewhere near the North Pole? C/U of man in coat and cap speaking - presumably Captain Bob Bartlett (mute, so we miss out on his distinctive tones). Intertitle: ’We are now chasing walrus off Baffin Land, where we are joined by the Eskimo hunters - ’. Shots of crew on board the sailing ship ’Morrissey’. Small Eskimo boats come alongside. It seems to be snowing. Eskimos in canoes come alongside and load their boats on board. Men with harpoons. L/S of group of walrus on an ice floe. Eskimo prepares harpoon buoy (?). M/S as we approach the walrus. An Eskimo heads towards them in canoe. Alerted walrus all flop into the water and start to swim off. Crew in a small boat. More walrus on floe. Dramatic and unpleasant shots of walrus in state of panic as boat approaches with Eskimos
