New Periscope (1914-1918)

New Periscope. Location of events unknown. New periscope; used for land surveillance. CU pile of sticks on the ground; a little periscope w/ square opening is sticking up from behind. CU soldier in ditch; (looking through periscope; but that’s off screen). Another soldier emerges from behind tree; approaches. CU soldier sitting up by the sticks; holding the contraption; now unfolded; he starts to fold it back together. Back to ditch: soldier in same position as before; other guy brings him some communications device; like a telephone. He holds it up to his head and speaks. Seen through scope: landscape seen inside circle shape; w/ black around it. Title says can be folded; carried in pocket. CU hands holding open periscope; putting in new mirror or foil. Back to the 2 men in the ditch. 1st hands the phone back to 2nd; who walks away. 1st guy folds periscope and follows. View through scope again. Scout; spy, World War One.
