IIRIS - Stranger (official video)

“Stranger“ - the revelation I have made friends out of strangers and strangers out of friends. I have become a person I never thought I would be. I visited a Nigerian church ceremony one day and the best part of it was when we all kneeled/laid down on the ground and prayed for the forgiveness of our sins. “Sin’’ comes from latin and means something like “ missing the mark”. It is a natural thing to do. I was a little lady in a cheetah coat surrounded by voluptuous beautiful ebony ladies dressed in white, and what we had in common was that we had all missed the mark at times. When we all showed up for our errors together it made us connect on some other level. Also how awesome was it of them to accept a total stranger to their ceremony? Other revelations about strangers - sometimes not hugging a stranger is the better thing to do for the both of you, but that doesn’t mean that the other doesn’t accept you for who you are. We are allowed our boundaries and we’re not here to make anyone else feel more at ease. This is a feminist issue and I struggle with it (this little cancer lady wants to make everyone happy and fix everyone including myself. yes thank you, yes, I’m totes psychic lol). Playing the “better person” in a conflict doesn’t usually play out as you can get brutally run over. When someone actually violates your boundaries it will awaken the angry beast within and it definitely doesn’t feel great all though it can fill you up with fury and energy to make something you’ve dreamed of happen. But hey, don’t be a stranger.
