Cliff Richard and his mother meet The Queen and Princess Margaret - 1962

This 1962 clip shows one of my first waitings on Margot and Tony, after they told Mummy they needed a third for bridge. As it turned out they needed a third for lots of things. The Queen wore Uncle Frank’s emeralds and the five bar radiator Grannie bought off Cousin Vlad for a bus fare. Margot was a puff ball in mauve and a honeyblonde do, plus her second best tiara, the one Cookie handed on when it went out of fashion. Cliff Richard came with his mother; she’s a pal of Margot’s from their darts club. Pat Boon’s such a scream; he rolled his eyes at the Queen and she told me later he was telling her he would KILL for her upper arms. It was chilly in the car on the way back but Tony’ gave me a hand to keep warm until we got to KP where Margo sang “Stormy Weather“ until 4 am when we finally got down to another threesome (at bridge).
