Gate Crashing! (1930)

Main Pathetone titles (see PT 15 for details). Full titles read: “Gate Crashing!“ (new title) “A novel little competition our French Automobile friends thought out -“. France. High angle M/S of a woman driving along a road in an open car; she gets out of the car while it is still moving, runs ahead of it to move a gate section out of the path of the car, waits until the car has passed, then puts the gate back, gets back into the car and drives off. A small crowd of people clap. A man comes along in a tiny child-size car, stays sitting in the car to open and close the gate before and after him then drives off. Intertitle reads: “When they competed for elegance, this car won - by the aid of a really unique bonnet “mascot“.“ M/S of a smart and shiny hardtop car driving along with a woman perched on the bonnet in a swan-dive pose - very art deco! The car moves backwards past the applauding crowd as the woman takes up another pose. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CH
