Elton John & Chris Rea - If You Were Me (1993)

From Elton John’s 1993 “Duets“ album. The song was written by Chris Rea, who had a hit in 1978 with “Fool (If You Think It’s Over).“ When Elton recorded this duet with Rea, an entire album of duets wasn’t in mind yet. He had recorded three duets, to be released with a compilation of older duets he had done, for Christmas 1993. Once this duet with Rea was completed, Elton was convinced to do an entire album of new duets. Less than eight weeks later, the entire project was finished.
