Great Lakes high water levels impact communities across the basin

The Moses-Saunders Power Dam, Long Sault Dam and Iroquois Dam (which straddle the U.S./Canadian border between Massena, New York, and Cornwall, Ontario,) help control the flow of water leaving the Great Lakes through the St. Lawrence River, about 60 miles upstream of Montreal, Quebec. For the past few months, operators have allowed unprecedented volumes of water through the system. River flows are higher because the Great Lakes are higher.
