Russian Missiles & Drones Hit Kyiv, 35 Shahed Drones Downed, Wagner Claims Bakhmut Advances

Russia launched dozens of missiles and drones towards Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities ahead of the Victory Day celebrations. Ukraine said its forces downed at least 35 Iranian-made Shahed drones in the early hours of May 8. At least five people were wounded in Russian strikes on Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported in the early hours of May 8. Wagner group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin claims that his mercenary group has advanced in the embattled city of Bakhmut. Western officials believe that Kyiv’s upcoming counteroffensive will pave the way for peace talks, reports say.
